A Plumber’s Favorite Clog-Busting Tools

Dealing with clogged drains can be frustrating. The best way to solve a stubborn clog is to call a trusted plumber. However, it is possible to unclog the drains yourself with the right information and tools. You can stock up on tools so you can immediately deal with a clogged drain whenever one occurs. In this post, plumbing and  heating repair  contractor R.A. Biel Plumbing and Heating shares a look at our favorite clog-busting tools.

Toilet plunger.  Starting with the traditional toilet plunger–this tool has been useful for many homeowners. It’s simple to use and very effective. It creates a tight seal around the toilet bowl drain. Just make sure to first turn off the water before using the plunger. Making a downward plunging motion until the blockage is released will do the trick.

Hydro-jetting equipment.  This tool is a favorite of  drain and sewer repair  professionals. It’s an effective tool to break through the most stubborn clogged drains. It can get rid of grease, waste and mineral deposits, improving the flow of the drain. However, this tool is used only by professionals because it blasts out high-pressure, high-temperature water to clear out the interior of the drain pipes. Usually, the lowest pressure of water that comes out of the nozzle is 7,500 pounds per square inch.

Plumbing auger or drain snake.  This tool is used to retrieve or remove the cause of blockage in drains. It’s handy for whenever you drop something important down the drain and don’t want to damage it while retrieving it. It’s affordable and viable, and can be purchased from your local hardware store.
